What is breast reduction?
Breast reduction or in other words reduction mammoplasty can be performed for both medical and aesthetic reasons.
Surgery is usually performed for reasons such as sagging, not looking nice, not being symmetrical, not being able to find clothes because the breasts are too large. Medical reasons are applied to relieve shoulder pain, neck pain, back pain or to prevent humps depending on the size of the breasts. Depending on the breast size, reasons for medically performed breast reduction include prevention of diaper dermatitis, fungal, infection or sore formation under the breast, and elimination of pressure points from bra straps.
People with large breasts also have difficulty with daily physical activities. In addition to genetic factors, a person’s lifestyle can also cause breasts to grow or lose their shape over time.
Factors such as obesity, pregnancy, breastfeeding, hormonal irregularities, some diseases and age can also cause breasts to grow or lose their shape. How is breast reduction performed?
Breast reduction, which involves the removal of fatty tissue in the skin and breasts, is a type of surgery used for people over the age of 20 whose body development is complete. Breast reduction, which requires complete physical development as well as hormonal regulation, can be performed on people under this age only in case of medical reasons. Breast reduction is performed under general anesthesia and is completed within 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on the breast size.Breast reduction is achieved using different methods and incision procedures.
