Meditour Turkei

The gastric balloon is a non-surgical obesity treatment method used around the world. The gastric balloon procedure is also used to prepare for bariatric surgery.

How is a gastric balloon used?

The treatment is performed without anesthesia and surgery. During endoscopy, the gastric balloon is placed in the stomach and a special liquid is filled in. In preparation for the procedure, the patient should be hungry at least 8 hours before the procedure, ideally 12 hours. To make sure the patient is comfortable during the procedure, medication is applied to relax them. Before the balloon is applied, an endoscopy is performed and the patient’s esophagus, stomach, and duodenum are examined to make sure the patient does not have any stomach discomfort. If gastric discomfort is detected during the endoscopy procedure that prevents placement of the balloon, the balloon procedure will not be used. After the procedure, the patient is rested for 30-60 minutes and can then be discharged and continue with their daily life.
